Required qualifications can of course vary from role to role, but in many cases the candidate will have worked previously in related roles such as IT support, software development, systems administration and even in ethical hacking. Candidates who have gained a great deal of experience in the field of IT security are regarded as highly employable individuals. 

Those with a strong academic background are also seen as more than realistic. University degrees in subjects such as information technology, computer science, programming, systems development and cybersecurity are in particular demand. It’s also worth noting that holding sector-specific certifications and industry qualifications can be vital. They include the likes of:
